This is what I want to whine about. The freaks that go around to blog sites and read and never leave a damn comment. It's not like the blog author can't see they were there, what they read and how long they stayed. It's not like they force them, to freaking return every day (some of them,, two or three times a day) to check for updates.
If they are going to god damn blog roll an author, or follow an author, or return half a dozen times during the day to check things out.
THEN LEAVE A DAMN COMMENT
Reading someones blog each and every day, following them, blog rolling them, and then NOT even leaving a comment once in a while is liking taking your entire smelly ass redneck ass-hat family to a fancy restaurant, running the waitress's ass off, and then stiffing her on the tip.
Most of the shitheads didn't even leave comments on delurk day. How damn rude was that? Were they raised by apes?

This might make me very unpopular but I totally disagree. I admit I'm new to the whole blogging world, but I like my lurkers, and I sometimes like to lurk too. Sometimes people are just too shy, insecure, technologically unsavvy, etc. to leave comments; sometimes what I/we have to say may not warrant comments. Sure I get satisfaction from my commenters, and the sense of community that comes along with them, but I don't think it's a readers responsibility to tell me what they think of what I wrote; I just like knowing that there are folks out there reading my blog. Fewer folks now, perhaps, but that's how I see it.

you said it sista or brotha.. if you can't whore me out on your blog roll, why should I whore you out. I TRY to comment on everyone I follow at least once a day, if not, at least once a week. I feel bad if I don't get to everyone

A-bloody-men! I don't mind lurkers, but if you spend upwards of an hour and a half on my blog for more than a few days, leave a damned comment already. If there is NOTHING there that you can say so much as "Hey, I liked this" about, then why the hell do you keep coming back?

I've only ever been mean to one commenter in 5 years, and that was because she called me a "hoe." You must know this, dear lurker, because by now you've read just about everything I've written.

I get most of my leads to new reads, from people who comment. So I really am a happy blogger if someone new comments. I try to comment, especially on Friday Froggin.

I don't like to comment all the time. There are some blogs I read that I never ever leave a comment at. Some blog entries that it takes me 5 visits a day just to finish reading the entry. I think it is a bigger compliment that people keep coming back and lurking around, then leaving some shallow comment or just some half ass comment for the sake of commenting. I am pretty new to the blog thing and think it's silly to be upset about attention on your site.

I guess I am not narcissistic enough to think anyone would care what I had to say. If I did, I would write my own damn blog.

it's a blog, for fuck's sake! it's not a class where you are REQUIRED to sign in. if someone stays on your site that long, you should be flattered and leave it at that. if they stop by every day and read the latest post, you should be flattered and leave it at that. if they put YOU on their blogroll, you....get the picture?

do you really need that "girl, you crack my shit up!" or "oh, hon. i know! my 3 yr old(husband, mother, etc) does the same thing!"??

comments are the new crack.
