What about MY saturday?

My 10 year old decided she didn't want to go to her Girl Scout outing today. Yes I'm aware that I could order her to do it, but that's exactly what she wanted, to provoke a showdown, and I'm not going there any more. She stated her preferences without whining or brattiness, so I refrained from screaming,"SUCK IT UP AND GET YOUR ASS IN THE CAR!" and calmly went on my way. Made her put her coat on over her pajamas to deliver the stuff she was responsible for, and then sent her with Dad while I WENT BACK TO PERFORM MY DUTIES AS TROOP LEADER which I took on so we could do stuff together. I will never make it to the teen years, much less through them. One of us will be dead.

Oh that totally sucks. I think the best we can hope for is that she will be crippled with guilt about it at some point. Although that doesn't sound as good as I thought it would once I typed it up.

dizzblnd -you've spoken to Mom, I see. Actually she doesn't say that, she just kind of smirks, which I translate as "karma's a bitch, ain't it?" To which I reply, "I never got to be a Girl Scout, because I was a (sob) Latchkey kid..."
Marinka -- given the above dynamic, its clear that my daughter, like me, will NEVER feel sufficiently guilty for anything.

Girls must start earlier than boys. I didn't want to kill my son until he was 13. But the urge is strong.
