All creatures great, small and tasty....

I'm married to a vegetarian. I often see people make that I-just-ate-a-lemon-face when they hear this. Oh my, WHAT does he eat??? I always ant to say plastic fruit. Why must people say, doesn't he know that's why God put animals on earth, for us to eat. Okay, I happen to believe in God. But I also believe in choice, and my husband's chooses not to eat Paulie the Pig, Cathy the Cow and their friends. Can't we leave God out of it?

As a long time vegetarian I can tell you....no we never can. Although I find if you tell them that if they believe that then must also believe that God put people on the earth to make babies and if they are going to eat animals b/c of the bible then the definitely should not use birth control that usually shuts them up.

Good one, Anon : )

It stuns me when people feel free to make such broad judgements--particularly if it's a subject they know little about!

By the way, what *does* your husband eat? :D

I gave up meat for a while, and to me the question of 'oh my god, how do you do that' sounded awfully similar to a three-year old yelling 'but moooooom, I don't waaaannaaa eat my vegetables!'

I'm married to a vegetarian too and, even though I am a hard-core meat eater, I just am glad that I get to eat healthy SOMEtimes, coz I'm with him! (actually, not really, coz we both dig pizzas and burritos and burgers and....)
