My daughter started coughing last night around 6pm. She coughed all night. This morning, my husband told me to take her to the doctor before our vacation tomorrow. She didn't cough all day. Not one tiny cough. So, I didn't take her. Now its bedtime, we leave tomorrow morning and she can't stop coughing. Great.

Oh, I have so been there! 2 things - your husband was just as capable of taking her as you and they always start coughing at night. That's just the thing about most of these childhood illnesses. I'm sure all will be well. Just wait till the morning :-)

Might be post nasal drip. When you stand up, it drains easily. Laying down, it causes a tickle. Try drinking a lot of water at bedtime. And there are always over the counter cough remedies. I usually use the suppressant only.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but in general? I don't take my kids to the doctor over a simple cough.

Sometimes a night-time cough can be a sign of asthma.
Try to find time to take her anyway
