I made mine the maid of honour and the MC so she'd have a legitimate reason to take up a lot of attention. We had a terrific time because she didn't have to steal away attention from me since she was already getting plenty. Also, I made sure we talked about her dress ahead of time. She chose a plunging neckline but at least it wasn't white like my mom was first planning to wear!!!

If not, then anon, don't hide it, just stand your ground and MAKE it your day. If she loves you, she'll deal.
I made mine maid of honor as well... and she still felt the need to totally try to grab as much attention as humanly possible. Her speech centered around herself and how mean I was to her when we were kids and then she tossed in an obligatory "Congrats to the bride and groom" at the end. I sincerely hope things work out how you want them to. Remember, it IS about you. This one thing in your life really is. So, make it so.
As one who has not spoken to her sister for over two years - don't do it. It's so not worth it. I miss her every day but am too stubborn to every let her know.
